This workshop series is a joint initiative of the British Council, the German Academic Exchange Service, the German-American Fulbright Commission, the Australian Group of Eight and the Canadian Bureau for International Education in Berlin.
Through the contributions of participants, the series aims to enrich debate on science, research and higher education policy in Germany, to place German perspectives in a global context and to learn from positive examples from other countries. |

 The Group of Eight is developing a program of academic collaboration with the University of Papua New Guinea (UPNG) in Port Moresby. The Go8-UPNG project will engage academics from Australian universities in a voluntary capacity to work together and support their academic counterparts at UPNG. |

The Go8 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to deepen its co-operation with the leading research universities in China, known as the C9.
The C9 is a newly formed and like-minded organisation. It is a consortium of universities which has agreed to collaborate to enhance its international linkages and respond more effectively to global challenges. |

The Group of Eight offers eight annual fellowships to early career researchers in Europe to work in Go8 universities for up to six months. Each Fellowship is worth AUD 20,000.
The Fellowships are open to eligible researchers in Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Romania, Bulgaria and Croatia.

The Go8 Agreement with the Government of the Republic of Chile complements the Free Trade Agreement between the Australian and Chilean Governments which comes into effect on 30 July 2008.
Under the Agreement, academically eligible students will enter Masters, PhD, English and teacher training programs as well as postdoc research exchanges at Go8 universities. The Agreement supports the Chilean Government’s efforts to ensure that students enrol in high quality research intensive institutions.
