Group of Eight partners with leading European research facility

The Group  of Eight signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the European Molecular  Biology Laboratory (EMBL) on 29 March  2010.

The Go8 and EMBL have  undertaken to collaborate on the joint award of PhD qualifications in the  subject of molecular biology.

EMBL is  Europe’s life sciences research flagship. Based on analysis of citation data it  ranks as the highest  performing research institution outside the United States.   

Australia  became EMBL’s first “Associate Member” in 2007 through financial contributions  from the Australian Government, CSIRO and four of the Go8’s member universities  (Monash, UQ, UWA and Sydney).
