The QS university rankings by subject rate all Go8 law schools in the top 100, with six in the top 50 and four in the top 20.
All Go8 universities have at least one field of engineering ranked in the top QS 100, and all are in the top 100 for medicine, psychology and education.
We receive 73% of Australian Competitive Grant (Category 1) funding and had the largest proportion of research fields rated at 4 or 5 ( ‘above’ or ‘well above’ world standard) in the most recent Excellence for Research Australia (ERA) exercise.
Each year the Go8 spends some $6 Billion on research – more than $2 Billion of which is spent on Medical and Health Services research.’
Our International connections:
The Go8 has international alliances and agreements with Universities and research organisations in Brazil, China (with the C9) Chile, France, and Germany. It is a signatory to the prestigious Hefei statement which links us with elite University groups around the world.
The Go8 is proud of its reputation for accepting quality students and delivering quality graduates; the leaders of tomorrow.
We educate over 360,000 students – more than one quarter of all higher education students in Australia.
This includes 100,000 international students from 200 countries, with one in three of Australia’s international students choosing to study at a Go8 university.
Go8 universities educate more than half of Australia’s doctors, dentists, and vets; and provides over 55% Australia’s science graduates and more than 40% of engineering graduates.
Students at Go8 institutions are drawn from a range of backgrounds. Over one-third of students, at all levels of study, are the first in their family to attend University. One in five commencing undergraduates are from a low SES, regional or remote location.
Student success and retention rates are above the Australian average, ensuring that a higher percentage of students from all backgrounds will graduate from the Go8.
